Hello dear reader. Today we’ll talk about a series of games that is already pretty dusty. The series that introduced the fashion for shooters in the setting of the Second World War and later gave us its beautiful clones (a striking example of which is the beginning of the Call of Duty series). Let’s look at the rather sad history of the series. Let’s get started

1. Origins
We’ll start with the origins of the series and go back to 1998. Why exactly in 98? Yes, because this year a picture was released that became a cult favorite for many of us. Of course I’m talking about Steven Spielberg’s film Saving Private Ryan. For those who have not watched this film, I will explain: This picture tells about the difficult fate of a private who was left without brothers and a detachment who, on orders from the command, must return Private Rain home. This picture brought its creator 6 Oscar nominations and 5 statuettes. And of course, the best part of the film (in my opinion) is the scene with the landing in Normandy (D-Day), which is practically a documentary scene of the film and was remembered by everyone who watched this film, and by the players… Well, more on that later.

2. Medal of Honor (1999)
After the success of his film, director Steven Spielber decided to create a game. Not just some kind of slag (not like now games based on films), but a game accompanying the film. To do this, he called in the help of DreamWorks Interactive, known for such games as Small Soldiers and the magnificent The Neverhood (now this team is called EA Los Angeles). And after a year of development, in 1999, the very first game in the Medal of Honor series was released exclusively for the new generation console. The plot of the game is very simple at first glance: We play as military transport corps pilot James Patterson, who was shot down on the night of June 6, 1944. that night he showed courage and heroism, for which he received the Medal of Honor. After receiving the award, the OSS organization (Office of Strategic Services) tries to recruit him, setting the condition. And here the game gains momentum and offers to play as a spy: here you have to change clothes and fake passports, well, where would you be without juicy shootouts with AI. Missions await in different parts of the Western Front. As they say "10 out of 10"! Game of the Year!"which is what she is in my heart. A few words about AI, it is here and even better for 1999. Why the best? Yes, because there are various opponents here: from a simple soldier to an officer. Each soldier, if you are in uniform, can demand a document and if it is not the one needed, he can run and raise the alarm. In general, Spielberg’s game was a success. I can talk for hours about this game, but we have other parts, so let’s look at a couple of pictures and wipe away a nostalgic tear.

3. Medal of Honor: Underground (2000)
This continuation of the series told us the story of the heroine Manon Baptiste, who was the coordinator of the main character of the first part. At the start of the game, she was in the Resistance and carried out tasks, but later became a spy for the OSS organization. The game has been replenished with new weapons, partners, more spacious locations and other little things. In general, this is the same game, but only from the perspective of a fragile lady resisting the onslaught of fascists in different parts of the world. Just like in the first part of the game, in this one you could dress up, but not as a Wehrmacht officer, but as a journalist, which brought some humor to the game. I am, of course, talking about those moments when you need to photograph soldiers. The game stands on the same pedestal as the first part and should be played together with it without any options.

4. Multiplayer
And now I want to talk about multiplayer in the first two parts. But calling it multiplayer would be a stretch. But still. The essence of multiplayer in this game came down to a simple deadmatch, with weapons, ammunition and first aid kits scattered throughout the level. We played as selected characters from the plot, from the main character and his colleagues, to the SS officer and others. Why did I make multiplayer a separate subtopic?? I just didn’t pay attention to him for a very long time, until my younger brother was born and the solution to any dispute was not a match in Teken or Mortalkombat, but a shootout in this game. How many problems were solved, how many tears were shed by my brother, I can’t count. So multiplayer left a niche in my heart. At this point I picked up the nursery and we continue.

5. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (2002)
And now we’re moving from console exclusives to PC games. And the continuation of the series and its ancestor on PeKa is the creation of 2015 inc. Allied Assault in our translation Second Front. The game, like the first part, is a cult game and in my top series it is in second place with all its additions. I remember the day when, with the money my parents gave me, I bought a pirate anthology of this series. As I remember now, there was the original game as well as 3 add-ons and Airborne, which had just been released for sale. And now it amuses me that one of the add-ons was called “Second Front – Bastards” and in theory should tell the story of the film “Bastards”, but it’s good that there are incomprehensible missions. What am I talking about? Oh yes! This game stuck on my computer for a good year. Going through individual missions I am still amazed by this game. We play as US Army Lieutenant Mike Powell, starting his journey in Algeria 1942 and continuing throughout Europe. All missions are very colorful except one. Remember I said at the beginning that the scene with the landing in Normandy was also remembered by the players. Of course I’m talking about the landing mission in the game. She’s gorgeous and looks like a scene from the original movie. God how impressive that was. Behind each anti-tank hedgehog there was a small story and this mission was terribly difficult for me, but after completing it I realized that this game is a masterpiece. Also, 2 add-ons were released for the game: Spearhead and Breakthrough, where in the first you can play as the brave paratrooper Jack Barnes, and in the second as US Army Sergeant John Baker. I can’t even call them add-ons, and Wiki writes that these are add-ons, but I still insist that I insist that these are separate games. By the way, addons were not made by 2015 inc., and EA LA and TKO Software. We can talk a lot and for an incredibly long time about this game, but since we still need to watch a couple of games, we’ll continue!

6. Console exclusives
After the resounding success of the Second Front, further parts until 2010 were exclusive to consoles, except for 2 games, which I will talk about later. I’m probably not the only one (or I alone) who couldn’t find out about the games in the series that were released on consoles back then, so I’ll judge them by their cover.Let’s start:

1)Medal of Honor: Frontline (2002) http://sportingbet-casino.uk/ – the fourth game in the series. Released on PS2, 360 and Gamecube. We played as the main character of the first part, namely Lieutenant Jimmy Patterson, an OSS agent who travels around Europe with the goal of exterminating Fascism.

2)Medal of Honor: Rising Sun (2003) – the game will transfer its actions to the Japanese-American fighting. We played as Marine Joseph D. "Joe" Griffin. We had to take down the Japs in many historical places, such as Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal and others.

3) Medal of Honor: Infiltrator (2003) – I think that more than 90% of those who are interested in the series have not seen this game. Because this is exclusive to the Game Boy Advance and is an arcade 2D shooter. For this console it was pretty good.

4)Medal of Honor: European Assault (2005) – PS3, 360, GC. A first-person shooter in which we play as Lieutenant William Holt, who has succeeded on all fronts. He was in France, he was in Africa, he fought for the USSR, and he did something in Belgium. Successful everywhere. The game is presented, as you understand, with several missions on each front and I think that this is not very interesting.

5)Medal of Honor: Heroes 1.2 (2006,2007) – These games were released on PSP and were pretty good. But the plot in the first game was pushed into the background by the multiplayer IP, which turned out to be a success. In the second game it was nice to shoot, but it was impossible to walk around the level like in the first part.

6) Medal of Honor: Vanguard (2007) – Game for PS2 and Wii. There is practically nothing to say about the game, t.To. this game is the initial idea of Airborn, with poor graphics and small levels.

This is where the exclusives end.

7. Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault (2004)
This game gives us the opportunity to play in the Pacific conflict, where we will play for the brave soldier Sergeant Thomas Conlin, who does not burn in water and does not drown in fire. The game was very colorful, due to the new engine, but that’s not the main thing. The main thing is that the game has moved to a new level of development. Shoot from a tank, ride a boat fighting off enemy planes, etc.d. done at the highest level, it’s a pity that my computer of that time conflicted with the video card and produced errors. If it weren’t for this little bug, this game could have taken 2nd place in my top, but alas, still 3rd. The plot is just a bomb, although there are some small drawbacks, but it hit the spot.

8.Medal of Honor: Airborne(2007)
For some, this game is “Not canon”, “The game is not very good at all”." and so on, but for me in 2008 the game was fresh air in terms of games. I saw that they were giving me freedom, although it was imaginary, but I was not forced to follow a chain of quests in a narrow corridor of the plot, but was thrown into a large room in which I needed to do 4 quests to open the door. Choose what to shoot from, where to land, and how you will kill your enemies. There is also upgrading of the guns you carry, from a sight on a sniper rifle with increased magnification, to turning your pistol into a real machine gun (and this is not a joke). I went through this game up and down, because the plot is small, which is a huge minus for the game. All provided weapons cannot be upgraded in several missions, although I managed to do this (if I clear the levels to a shine with a pistol or grenades). The plot is like a typical Maykolbeevism: Brave American soldiers punch the fascists in the face. The game only remembers 2 moments after completion

It’s like a tiger tank ran over a soldier and the moment with the explosion of the tower at the end.

Another nail in the coffin is multiplayer for 12 people, again, it’s 2007. Even Stalker’s multiplayer supported up to 32, so 12 people is a slap in the face, although it’s not for me to judge. This is the end of the era of World War II in MoH games, and I hope not forever.

10. Medal of Honor (2010) and warfighter
And now, after 3 years of waiting, a reboot of the series is being released. I’ll say right away that this game was a failure in the series, as was the sequel. The game was bad. The emphasis on pseudo-realism came down to the fact that it did not exist at all. Do you remember all those licks of this game, with the words “Real military. Real military. It’s like being in a war. “After such words, I expected the ARMA Killer from the game, but I received less than enough. Multiplayer sucks! The plot is nothing. Battle 3 had 100 times more plot. The game was frankly a success

Well, things turned out even worse for the next game. The multiplayer is skewed towards the well-known calovidyuti, it’s a shame to even discuss the plot, but the idea was awesome. Overall, these were the last nails in the coffin.

Bottom line
The series lived its life with dignity. I’m glad that I played most of the parts of this series and really love the first 2 parts. I hope the series WILL RISE FROM THE ASHES and show that it’s not very bad) I’m incredibly grateful to my father who, instead of the McRally race that the seller shoved at me, bought MoH and Crash Bandicut, and the Spyro the Dragon Anthology… Oh, I guess I burned my new post. ZagibChimichang was with you. Play the iconic and worthy!
